Normally the words “beautiful” and “war” do not go together in the same sentence. However, this stunning photography of old abandoned World War II bunkers is truly beautiful, in a historic kind of way.
In case you are unfamiliar with a military bunker, it is a shelter designed to protect soldiers from bombs and attacks. They are also used to store weapons and other supplies. These photographs taken by Dutch photographer Jonathan Andrew are truly remarkable. They look so desolate and lonely. I wonder if the soldiers that hid in these bunkers felt that way too. The lighting he was able to achieve in these pictures is fantastic. These structures are in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. You can see more on the Jonathan Andrew Photography website.
